As a student, or a parent buying for their child, we understand the limited budget constraints and the need for a discounted microscope system. We have economically priced school microscopes that will meet most any budget.
Our lowest grade student school microscopes are simple compound light microscopes with mirror illumination. The price is low, but the capability is only going to be for the kid student or simple homeschool microscope as a beginning optical system. With a little higher budget, we can provide reasonable student grade microscopes that are monocular or binocular, and with electric lighting. They have better light condensers and iris diaphragms for improved illumination control. The higher grade educational school microscopes have better optical grade glass objective lens for enhanced imaging of the microscopic specimen.
The simpliest of microscopes would be a toy microscope. These can cause more frustration than benefit, and are not recommended. While a toy store may sell a toy microscope and claim it goes 400x or even 600x, the optical qualtiy will generally be so poor that a child will quickly lose interest and see it only as a toy, and not an optical device to use to view the living microworld. And most students will not be able to properly see their specimens as required in their home school classwork or high school biology courses. If the student has the budget, we recommend buying a binocular compound light microscope since the image is viewed in both oculars and provides a more natural viewing than a simple monocular compound light microscope that has only one ocular to view in.
As with most schools now, computers are integrated into the student’s learning experience. To complement a student school microscope, we recommend a simple and cheap USB computer connected digital microscope camera to capture and display live video as well as still jpg images.
